Hohenfelden
Picnic at the open-air museum
Lemonade pavilion in the Thuringian Open-Air Museum Hohenfelden
The pretty lemonade pavilion in the Hohenfelden open-air museum has a history stretching back over 120 years. It was built in Friedrichroda in 1891/92 as a summer bar for the “Damm-Mühle” restaurant. It then “moved” to Hohenfelden in 1999.
For eight years now, tenant Sabrina Frommann has been catering for visitors young and old to the Hohenfelden open-air museum. Her cheerful and friendly manner immediately makes you feel welcome and you’re happy to stay a little longer. Then you can savour a sherbet, homemade waffles with cream and cherries or a hearty soup.
Escape from everyday life and spend a relaxing day in and around the Thuringian Open-Air Museum Hohenfelden. Go on a journey of discovery, explore life in Thuringia in the past and bring history to life. Round off your visit with a picnic basket full of Thuringian specialities and regional delicacies. The surroundings are ideal for a picnic, as the site is surrounded by fields, meadows and woodland. Everyone will find their ideal spot.
