Fishing spots in the Weimarer Land

Experience the tranquillity of nature and relax from everyday life in the varied landscape of the Weimarer Land. Pack your fishing rod and get to know our most beautiful places for fishing.

In general, the possession of a valid fishing licence is a prerequisite for the acquisition of an authorisation card. If the quarterly fishing licence (tourist fishing licence) is sufficient, this is noted under the corresponding entry.

We would like to point out that not every water body can be fished with every authorisation card. Please contact the respective managers for more information.

Dreiteichsgrund – Bad Berka

The Dreiteichsgrund, idyllically situated in the forest, offers you pure relaxation. Cast your fishing rod and enjoy the nature around you while you wait for the fish to bite.

You can also fish in the Dreiteichsgrund if you have a quarter-year fishing licence. Note, however, that in this case fishing with only a peace fishing rod is allowed.

Stausee – Hohenfelden

The Hohenfelden reservoir is not far from the town of Kranichfeld in the south-east of Erfurt and in the south-west of Weimar. It can be reached via the A4 motorway, exit Erfurt Ost (47), in the direction of Kranichfeld or via the B87 via Kranichfeld. The most important fish species of the 45 ha water body are pikeperch, carp, eel, bream, roach and perch. In addition, pike, catfish, tench and rudd can be found. The water offers easily accessible fishing spots even for those with physical impairments – especially on the south shore or on the grounds of the camping site (here only with a tent permit). As one of the most famous salmonid waters in Thuringia – even John Horrocks fished here – the Ilm also attracts passionate fly fishers with a good trout and grayling population in the immediate vicinity.
