The Riechheimer Berg, not far from the Hohenfelden reservoir adventure region, is a popular destination for hikers. The mountain lies on a shell limestone ridge and is predominantly wooded at the top. In spring, the spring adonis, which is a protected species, grows along the path, but you can also admire cowslips, violets and wild lilies of the valley. Today, the border between the Weimarer Land and Ilmkreis districts runs here.

The mountain can be climbed from various directions, e.g. via the “Wenig Steig” from the car park between Hohenfelden and Riechheim. The path leads through the forest, ensuring a pleasant hiking climate even on hot days. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view and delicious food. Enjoy the regional specialities from the traditional “Riechheimer Berg” restaurant, which has been around since 1895.
