Blankenhain
The Golden Plait
A little off the main route through Blankenhain is a magnificent half-timbered house in warm colours, the restaurant “Zum Güldenen Zopf”. This cuisine is truly regional. Everything prepared here comes from the region. The chefs talk about tidy plates and enjoy telling stories about the meat, fish and vegetables and how they ended up in the “Zopf”.
BACK TO THE ORIGINS
The traditional inn, which had been empty for a long time and has almost 500 years of history, was faithfully restored by the Grafe family and reopened in September 2016.
The menu includes savoury dishes such as Thuringian dumplings with roulade and red cabbage or Thuringian roast beef with roast potatoes as well as light dishes such as fillet of pikeperch with pearl barley risotto. “If we manage to offer our guests a special experience with regional ingredients and our culinary art, we can also inspire them for this region and its sustainable food production.”
